Video I made by plotting geo data I pulled from http://geonames.usgs.gov/domestic/download_data.htm, approximately 360 frames and 50k data points per frame, Blue being the lowest elevation and red being the highest.
Some generative stuff i’ve been working on using an open-source programming language adapted from Java called Processing. (www.processing.org).
Here are a couple more photos for anyone interested in making a humane pest deterrent (we use it because cats love to shit in our backyard). Shown are the laser module, cadmium sulfide photocell module, the protoshield with two trimmer pots that regulate optical sensitivity and trip-delay as well as status LED’s. All components are built on an Arduiono Duemilanove with Atmega328 chip. The code works by comparing two optical sensor readings taken at 100 ms intervals. Initially the laser is on and the optical path is unobstructed, so the sensor reading is high, when a cat (animal, person, etc) obstructs the beam, the microcontroller sends a signal to an output pin on the board, activating a 24vac relay on the protoshield for a userdefined time (as determined by the delay pot). This activates an irrigation solenoid and turns on a sprinkler for a defined amount of time. If the microcontroller no longer detects a change in optical reading, it will return to its unactivated state until something blocks the beam path, and the cycle repeats.
Not shown is the solenoid mechanism which turns off and on the sprinkler.
